Tab Manager – Privacy Policy

Effective date: February 18, 2026  ·  Last updated: February 18, 2026

The short version Tab Manager does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

1. What This Extension Does

Tab Manager is a Chrome browser extension that lets you organize your open browser tabs into named workspaces and tab groups. It is a local productivity tool — there are no accounts, no servers, and no internet connection required to use it.

2. Data We Collect

We collect nothing. Tab Manager does not collect, transmit, store on any server, or share any information about you or your browsing.

The extension does read certain browser data locally in order to function:

  • Tab titles and URLs — read from your open browser tabs when you choose to import them into a workspace. This data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API and never leaves your browser.
  • Tab favicons — fetched from Google's public favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons) using only the domain name of the site, for display purposes only. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.

3. Local Storage Only

All workspace data — including tab groups, tab titles, URLs, and favicons — is saved locally using chrome.storage.local. This data:

  • Stays entirely on your device
  • Is never sent to any external server
  • Is never shared with any third party
  • Can be cleared at any time by removing the extension

4. Third-Party Services

The extension uses two external services in a limited, non-personal way:

  • Google Fonts — loads the Material Symbols icon font for the extension's user interface. No personal data is transmitted; this is a standard font stylesheet request.
  • Google Favicon Service — fetches website icons using only the domain name (e.g., google.com/s2/favicons?domain=example.com). No browsing history, personal data, or identifiers are included.

Neither service receives any information that could identify you or your browsing activity.

5. Permissions Explained

Tab Manager requests the following Chrome permissions, each for a specific functional reason:

  • tabs — to read open tab titles, URLs, and favicons when you import tabs into a workspace.
  • tabGroups — to interact with Chrome's native tab grouping system.
  • storage — to save your workspaces and groups locally on your device.
  • sidePanel — to display the extension's UI in Chrome's side panel.
  • host permissions (<all_urls>) — used only to retrieve favicon images for display. No page content is accessed or read.

6. Children's Privacy

Tab Manager does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected at all, this extension is safe for use by anyone.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Because no data is collected, any changes would relate only to clarifications of how the extension works — not to new data practices.
